When Unwanted Corrections Keep Happening

Sometimes the first letter of a word gets capitalized automatically, or a word gets changed to something you didn't intend while you're typing. Turning off AutoCorrect options can reduce these frustrations.

Check Your Default Save Location Too

While you're in Word's options, it's also worth checking where new documents are saved by default, so you don't have to browse to the same folder every time you save a new file.

Frequently Asked Questions

If I turn off AutoCorrect, does spell check disappear too?

No. AutoCorrect and spell check are separate features. Even with AutoCorrect off, the wavy-underline spell checker keeps working.

Can I exclude just one specific word from AutoCorrect?

Yes. In the AutoCorrect Options window, you can find the specific correction entry you don't want and remove it from the list.
