How to Measure Wiper Length

Remove the old blade from the vehicle and measure the length of the frame (or blade) from end to end with a ruler. Sizes are usually given in inches; if you measured in millimeters, divide by 25.4 to convert.

Why Driver and Passenger Sides Differ

On most vehicles, the driver-side wiper is longer than the passenger side, since it's built to clear the wider field of view the driver needs most. Always measure each side separately.

Wiper size can vary even within the same model depending on model year, trim, or a mid-cycle facelift. Treat any chart you find online as a starting point only -- before buying, remove your existing blade and measure it yourself, or check your vehicle's owner manual.

Converting Between Inches and Millimeters

Wiper sizes are usually labeled in inches (14", 16", 22", and so on). To convert a measurement in millimeters to inches, divide by 25.4. To go the other way, multiply the inch value by 25.4.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I just buy the same size for both sides?

Most vehicles are designed with different lengths on each side, so fitting both with the same size often leaves part of the windshield unwiped or causes the blades to collide. Measure and buy for each side separately.

The length is right, but it won't attach -- what's wrong?

Length alone isn't enough -- the connector that attaches to the wiper arm also has to match your vehicle. Check that the connector type is compatible before buying, or choose a universal blade that comes with multiple adapters.
