How does this tool compare text?
It compares two texts line by line: lines found only in the original are shown in red (removed), and lines found only in the revised version are shown in green (added). Lines that appear in the same order in both texts are considered unchanged and shown in the normal color. It's handy for reviewing code changes, comparing contract revisions, or checking draft-to-draft changes in writing.
Notes
This tool performs a line-level comparison β if only a few words change within a line, the entire line is still shown as removed and added. Everything you enter is processed entirely in your browser and is never sent to a server.

Can it compare word by word instead of line by line?
This tool only supports line-by-line comparison. If you need finer, sentence- or word-level detail, try splitting the sentences you want to compare onto separate lines first.
When should I use "Ignore leading/trailing whitespace"?
If every line is showing as different just because of indentation or trailing spaces that don't affect the actual content, turn on this option β it trims each line's leading/trailing whitespace before comparing, so you only see the meaningful content differences.
