How it's calculated
Your stride length is estimated from your height (height Γ 0.415) to work out the distance walked, and your walking time is estimated assuming a typical pace of about 100 steps per minute. Calories burned are then calculated from the standard MET value for walking (MET 3.5) combined with your weight and walking time.
Example
Someone 170cm tall weighing 70kg who walks 10,000 steps covers about 7.1km, and burns roughly 429 kcal over about 100 minutes of walking.
A note on accuracy
This calculator is an estimate based on an average stride and walking pace. Actual calories burned vary with walking speed, terrain, and individual body composition. For precise measurement, use a wearable device or professional fitness equipment.
