How to Get Automatic Slide Designs with PowerPoint Designer

  1. Add text or images to a slide

    Place a title, text, and photos on the slide as you normally would.

  2. Click "Designer" on the "Design" tab

    Clicking the "Designer" button on the right side of the ribbon's "Design" tab opens a panel of suggested layouts.

  3. Click the design you like

    Clicking one of the suggested layouts instantly rearranges your slide's design and placement.

  4. New designs appear whenever you change the content

    Every time you edit the text or images, Designer automatically shows a fresh set of suggested layouts.

Not confident about design? Let the content lead

Designer analyzes what's already on the slide -- how much text there is, whether there are images, and their proportions -- and proposes several layout options built around that content, rather than making you start from a blank template and guess at spacing. That flips the usual order: instead of picking a design first and cramming content into it, you add content first and let a design form around it.

It's a starting point, not a locked template

Any layout Designer applies is made of ordinary text boxes and images underneath, so you can still drag, resize, or restyle any element afterward exactly like a manually built slide. Treating a Designer suggestion as a first draft rather than a final answer tends to give the best results.
