How to Create a Quiz with Microsoft Forms

Microsoft Forms can grade a quiz automatically and export the results, saving you from tallying answers by hand.

  1. Start a new quiz or form

    Go to forms.office.com and choose New Form for an ungraded survey, or New Quiz for a quiz with scored answers, then give it a title.

  2. Add questions and choose a type

    Click Add question and pick a question type such as choice, text, rating, date, or ranking for each item you want to include.

  3. Set the correct answer and point value

    In quiz mode, mark the correct option for each question with the checkmark next to it, and enter a number in the Points field to set that question's score.

  4. Add optional feedback messages

    Click the message icon next to any answer choice to add a custom explanation or hint that appears when a respondent picks that particular answer.

  5. Share the link

    Once you're done building it, click Send and copy the generated link or QR code to distribute the quiz to your respondents.

  6. Export results to a spreadsheet

    Open the Responses tab and click Open in Excel to download every response along with each score in a spreadsheet, ready for further analysis.
