How to Report or Block an Abusive Contact on WhatsApp

  1. Open the chat with the person you want to report

    Go into the conversation with the contact sending spam, scam links, or abusive messages.

  2. Tap the contact's name at the top

    Tapping their name, or the three-dot menu in the corner, opens their contact info and chat options.

  3. Select "Report"

    Scroll down in the contact info screen and tap "Report Contact."

  4. Choose a reason and submit

    Pick the option that fits -- spam, scam, harassment, or another reason -- and confirm. Most report screens let you block the same contact in the same step.

  5. Why it matters

    If you run into spam, scams, or harassment, reporting sends a copy of the recent messages to the platform's safety team for review, helping protect your account and other users from the same behavior.
