How to Block a Contact in a Messaging App

  1. Open the person's profile

    Go into their profile from your contact list or from an existing chat with them.

  2. Open the options menu

    Tap the menu icon, usually in the top corner of their profile screen.

  3. Select "Block" and confirm

    Choose "Block" from the menu and confirm the action when prompted.

  4. Optionally hide them from your contact list too

    Some apps offer a separate "hide" option alongside blocking, which removes them from your visible contact list without any notification to them either.

  5. Unblock them later if you change your mind

    A dedicated "blocked contacts" list in settings lets you review and unblock anyone at any time.

A quiet way to stop unwanted contact

If messages from someone have become unwelcome, blocking stops new messages from reaching you without sending them a direct notification that they've been blocked.

Blocking is stronger than just deleting a contact
