How to Set a Wallpaper on iPhone

Tap through each step in order to set your wallpaper.

  1. Open the Wallpaper menu in Settings

In the Settings app, tap 'Wallpaper.'

  2. Tap 'Add New Wallpaper'

Choose from the built-in gallery or pick a photo saved in your Photos app.

  3. Adjust the position and zoom

Pinch to zoom or drag the image so the part you want is framed exactly where you want it on the screen.

  4. Set the lock screen and home screen separately

You can use different wallpapers for the lock screen and home screen, or apply the same one to both.

  5. Choose whether to add a motion effect

From the display options, pick a Still image, a Live Photo, or a Portrait-style depth effect.

Make your screen feel like yours

The built-in wallpapers are fine, but setting a photo you took yourself or an image you genuinely love makes the screen you look at dozens of times a day feel a little more personal.

Dark Mode can switch some wallpapers automatically

Some of the built-in wallpapers are designed with separate light and dark color versions that switch automatically along with the system appearance.
