How to Customize Your iPhone's Control Center

Your iPhone's Control Center does not have to stay at its default layout -- here is how to make it yours.

  1. Open Settings, then Control Center

    Go to Settings > Control Center, which lists two sections: controls currently included, and more controls available to add.

  2. Review what is currently included

    The top section shows every control currently in your Control Center, in the order they will appear, with a red minus button next to each one for removal.

  3. Add a control from the available list

    Scroll to "More Controls" below and tap the green plus button next to anything you want to add, such as Screen Recording, Low Power Mode, or Flashlight brightness.

  4. Reorder the list

    Press and hold the three-line handle next to any included control and drag it up or down; its position in this list matches where it appears in Control Center itself.

  5. Remove what you do not use

    Tap the red minus icon next to any control in the top section, then confirm "Remove," to keep Control Center from feeling cluttered.

What Control Center customization can and cannot change

You can freely add, remove, and reorder individual controls, and on some iPhone models resize a few of them, but you cannot change the overall Control Center layout itself or move it to a different swipe gesture.

A few genuinely useful additions people forget

Screen Recording, Low Power Mode, Text Size, and Magnifier are all available to add but are not in Control Center by default on most setups, despite being ones people commonly wish they had one swipe away.
