How to Set Calendar Notifications on iPhone

Tap through each step in order.

  1. Create a new event

    In the Calendar app, tap the '+' button in the top right to add a new event.

  2. Set the date and time

    Enter the start and end time for the event.

  3. Set the 'Alert' option

    On the event details screen, tap 'Alert' and choose when you want to be notified β€” at the time of the event, 5 minutes before, an hour before, a day before, and more.

  4. Add more than one alert

    For important events, tap 'Add Alert' to stack a second or third alert on top of the first.

  5. Set a default alert time in advance

    Under Settings β†’ 'Calendar' β†’ default alert times, you can set an alert that gets applied automatically to every new event you create from then on.

Give yourself real lead time for what matters

If you tend to forget appointments or meetings, stacking two or three alerts on the same event is worth doing. A reminder a day ahead plus another an hour before gives you enough real lead time to actually prepare.

Sync it with the calendars you already use

Under your account settings, adding another calendar service lets you see events from multiple calendars together in one app, instead of checking each one separately.
