When a post is not something you want to delete forever but you also do not want it showing on your profile at the moment, archiving lets you hide it safely without losing anything.
Unarchiving brings everything back exactly as it was
An archived post can be republished at any time from the "Archive" menu, and it drops right back into its original spot in your profile grid based on when it was originally posted. It is worth archiving something first and deciding later, rather than deleting in a hurry.
