How to Share Your Screen in Google Meet

Tap a step to follow along in order.

  1. Click "Present now" in the meeting toolbar

Click the presentation icon in the toolbar at the bottom of the meeting window.

  2. Choose what to share

Pick "Your entire screen," "A window," or "A tab," depending on what you want participants to see.

  3. Pick the exact window or tab

From the list that appears, click the specific window or browser tab you actually want to share.

  4. Click "Stop presenting" to end it

When you're done, click the "Stop presenting" button shown at the top or bottom of your screen.

  5. Why it's useful

When you need everyone on a call to see a slide deck or a specific document, sharing your screen lets the whole group view it live without sending a separate file.

Showing everyone the same thing, live

Instead of emailing a file and hoping everyone opens it, screen sharing puts exactly what you're looking at in front of every participant in real time, which keeps a presentation or a walkthrough moving without back-and-forth.

Picking the right sharing mode for the moment

Sharing a single tab keeps other windows, notifications, and messages private, which is the safer default for most presentations. Sharing your entire screen only makes sense when you need to switch between several apps live -- just remember to close anything sensitive first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I share audio too, like a video or music?

Yes -- when you choose to share a tab, turn on the "Share tab audio" checkbox that appears, and sound playing in that tab will be sent to participants along with the video.

Will others know I'm sharing my screen?

Yes, once sharing starts, an icon appears in the meeting view and in the participant list to indicate that your screen is currently being shared.
