How to Create a Google Form

Tap each step to follow along in order.

  1. Go to forms.google.com and start a new form

Signed in with your Google account, go to the Google Forms site and click "Start a new form."

  2. Enter a title and description

Fill in the title and description fields at the top so the purpose of your form is clear at a glance.

  3. Add questions and choose an answer type

Click the "+" button to add a question, then pick an answer type like short answer, multiple choice, checkboxes, or dropdown.

  4. Click "Send" in the top right to share the link

Clicking "Send" lets you distribute the form by copying a link, sending an email, or generating a QR code, whichever fits your situation.

  5. Why this is useful

For things like an RSVP count, a satisfaction survey, or an event sign-up, responses are automatically organized into a table, so there is no need to tally results by hand afterward.

Need to collect responses from a lot of people?

For an RSVP count, a satisfaction survey, or an event sign-up, letting people fill out a form means every response gets organized into a table automatically, with no manual tallying required afterward.

You do not have to start from a blank page

Google Forms offers ready-made templates alongside the blank form option, so for common setups like an RSVP or a feedback survey, you do not need to design the same structure from scratch every time -- it saves real time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I see the responses?

Click the "Responses" tab at the top of the form editor to see both summary statistics and individual answers, and you can click the green spreadsheet icon to export everything to Google Sheets.

Can I make a question required?

Yes -- turning on the "Required" toggle underneath any question means a respondent cannot submit the form without answering it.
