How to Jump to Any Cell Fast Using Excel's Name Box

Stop scrolling through thousands of rows β€” just type where you want to go.

  1. Find the Name Box

    The small box to the left of the formula bar is the Name Box.

  2. Click the Name Box

    Click inside it to place your cursor there.

  3. Type the cell address you want

    Type an address like "Z500" or "AB1000" for wherever you want to go.

  4. Press Enter to jump there

    Pressing Enter takes you straight to that cell with no scrolling needed.

  5. Why this matters

    Instead of scrolling through thousands of rows to find a specific spot, you can teleport there instantly by typing the address.

It works with ranges and other sheets too

The Name Box is not limited to single cells β€” type a range like "A1:D10" and Excel selects the whole block at once, or type a reference like "Sheet2!A1" to jump directly to a specific cell on a different sheet without clicking any tabs first.
