How to Sync Chrome Bookmarks Across Devices

Follow these steps in order to sync your Chrome bookmarks across devices.

  1. Sign in to Chrome with your Google Account

Click the profile icon in the top-right corner of Chrome and sign in with your Google Account.

  2. Turn on sync

Click the Turn on sync button that appears after signing in, or enable it from Settings under Sync and Google services.

  3. Choose what gets synced

In Settings under Manage sync, you can choose to sync only bookmarks, or include history, passwords, and extensions as well.

  4. Check that it synced on another device

Sign in to Chrome with the same Google Account on another computer or phone, and after a short wait the same bookmarks appear in the bookmarks bar and bookmark manager.

  5. Refresh manually if sync is slow

If a change hasn't shown up yet, click Sync now in Settings or restart Chrome to force it to update.

Why syncing is worth setting up

Instead of maintaining separate bookmark lists on your work computer, home computer, and phone, signing into one Google Account lets you see the exact same bookmark list on any device instantly.

Fine-tune what you share for privacy

If you're comfortable syncing bookmarks but not passwords or browsing history -- say, on a shared or work device -- Chrome's per-item sync controls let you turn on only the pieces you want.

Frequently Asked Questions

If I turn off sync, do my already-synced bookmarks disappear?

No -- bookmarks already saved on each device stay right where they are; turning off sync just stops future changes from being shared between devices.

Can I sync only bookmarks and skip passwords?

Yes -- under Manage sync in Settings, you can toggle each data type individually, so you can sync bookmarks alone and exclude passwords or history.
