How to Resize a Design in Canva

Follow these steps in order to resize a design in Canva.

  1. Open the design you want to resize

    Open an existing design you have already made in Canva.

  2. Click "Resize" in the top menu

    Click the "Resize" button in the menu at the top of the screen.

  3. Choose the new size you want

    Pick from ready-made sizes like Instagram post, presentation, or business card, or enter a custom width and height.

  4. Click "Resize and copy"

    Clicking this button automatically creates a copy in the new size while leaving your original design untouched.

Reuse one design across multiple platforms

If you need an image originally made for Instagram to also work as a YouTube thumbnail or a business card, Canva's resize tool automatically adapts the existing design to the new dimensions instead of forcing you to rebuild it from scratch.

Check the layout after resizing

Resizing changes the proportions of the canvas, so text or images can occasionally overlap or shift out of place, especially with very different aspect ratios. Always review the resized copy and nudge any elements that landed awkwardly.
