  1. Wait for the daily notification

    At a random time each day, you'll get a notification that it's time to BeReal.

  2. Take a photo within two minutes

    Once notified, you have two minutes to capture the moment using both your front and back cameras at once.

  3. Add a caption

    You can add a short caption or note about how you're feeling alongside your photo.

  4. View your friends' photos

    You only get to see what your friends posted that day after you've posted your own.

For sharing real moments, not curated ones

Unlike other social apps built around polished, edited images, BeReal is designed around sharing an unfiltered snapshot of whatever you're doing the instant the notification arrives.

Being late or retaking a photo is visible to your friends

You can still post after the two-minute window closes, but it's marked as posted late, and if you retake the photo, the number of retakes is shown alongside it too.
