How to Organize Notifications with Android Notification Groups

  1. Notifications from the same app group automatically

    When multiple notifications arrive from one app, Android automatically bundles them into a single group in the notification panel, keeping the list manageable even as notifications pile up.

  2. Expand and collapse a notification group

    Swipe down on a grouped notification with two fingers, or tap the group, to see every individual notification. Swipe back up to collapse it again.

  3. Manage per-app notifications in Settings > Notifications

    Open Settings and go to Notifications to see a list of apps that have recently sent notifications, along with an on/off toggle for each.

  4. Fine-tune notification categories (channels) per app

    Tap into a specific app and you will see notification categories broken down further, like Comments or Promotions β€” each with its own controls for sound, vibration, and banners.

  5. Mark important notifications as priority

    For a chat or app you check constantly, long-press its notification and choose Priority or Conversation to have it appear above everything else.

  6. Silence or turn off a whole group of unwanted notifications

    Long-pressing a notification also lets you turn off or silence that app's notifications entirely, clearing out a whole group of unwanted alerts in one go.
